About Us

Teinam Higher Secondary School is a co-educational school offering higher secondary education in Arts and Commerce streams. It was established by the ESES Plus and the course for class XI will start from 2026. It will follow the syllabus of Meghalaya Board of School Education. It is situated in the valley of Wahkamar, Mawtawar about 15 kilometers away from Shillong. It is surrounded by greenery, it can be reached from the VIP road via Umjalynshir about 1½ kilometers away following the newly constructed road or from the new road from Umsaw to Umjathang following the newly constructed road which connects to Umjalynshir approximately 1 kilometer away. Our aim and goal is to educate and empower the youth in rural areas by working together with the farming community. We want to ensure that they have the potential to contribute, build and to grow.

Teinam is a shorter version of Tei la-i-nam meaning ‘build your own fame’. The institution was established to provide accessible and quality education to students from 14 villages of the surrounding rural areas. All these past years students have been travelling a long distant to receive higher education. Founded by ESES Plus (a short form of Streamlet, Sylvanus plus the children). As a family of educationists we feel it is our duty to contribute in the field where we know best that is to disseminate knowledge, educate and reflect a commitment to education, values, and leadership. We sincerely hope that the students will really commit themselves to achieve fame. It was never easy to nurture the dream and to turn it into a reality, nevertheless we moved forward because we are committed and we made a number of sacrifices. We sincerely hope that students achieve their dreams and become leaders and achievers in various fields. We will continue to give our best and we will challenge every student who enter this institution to dream big.

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians, It gives me immense pleasure to inaugurate an educational institution dedicated to the youth, especially those from rural areas. This institution is the realization of a long-cherished dream of the sponsors, who envisioned contributing meaningfully by sharing our limited resources with communities in villages and underserved regions. After thoughtful deliberation, we resolved to establish a school that not only imparts academic knowledge but also equips learners with essential skills in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. We have ensured adequate space and facilities to support quality education and holistic development.
